Who We Are
At Belrey Fibres, we turn industrial textile waste into high-quality recycled fibres and we’ve been doing it for over three decades. Founded in 1996 in Mouscron, Belgium, our family-run business grew from a local recycling initiative into a key player in the international circular economy. Today, our fibres travel the world, but our heart stays rooted in Belgium.
We’re not a giant corporation. We’re a solid team of about 30 people, passionate about giving textile waste a second life. From our five advanced production lines in Mouscron, we process 50 to 60 tonnes of material every day. That’s millions of fibres that won’t end up in landfills.
We like to keep it simple, clean and efficient. Whether you’re a client or a supplier, you talk to real people, not robots. That’s the Belrey way.
Our History
In 1996, Belrey Fibres started with the recycling of synthetic carpet yarns in Kortrijk, employing 5 workers.
The sales market for its end products was the technical non-woven industry, a part of the textile industry that focuses on manufacturing non-woven fabrics for functional and technical purposes.
The name “Belrey” stands for « Belgian Recycled Yarns »
Due to our increased production, we built a warehouse of 6.678 m² on the same site. We invested in a complete guillotine cutting line and a powerful bale press.
Considering the growing demand for recycled fibres, we decided to take care of our own tearing operations through the acquisition of the assets of an Italian company.
A nearly new tearing line was set up to increase our capacity, which enabled us to cover the growing demand for recycled fibres in cars and geotextiles. We became one of the main players in this market.
Belrey has taken the necessary steps to obtain this certification, in response to the demand from several automotive customers.
Another brand new baling press for our cardboard tubes, equipped with automatic bale strapping & unloading, was set up.
Belrey Fibres moved to an existing larger facility in the industrial zone in Mouscron (Wallonia, Belgium). Thanks to our increased production capacity, we were able to meet the growing demand for our products. Belrey could react better and even faster to the customer ’s demand.
We acquired 8.600 m² of buildings on a site of 54,126 m² located in Beloeil, which provided additional storage capacity for our increasing feedstock of raw materials. This allowed us also to process more complex materials for our tearing operations and other applications.
Installation of a photovoltaic system, consisting of 696 solar panels on the building in Beloeil, with a capacity of 174 kWp to generate clean and renewable electricity from sunlight.
To meet the demand of our major clients, a brand new baling press with a pressing force of 300 tons, equipped with automatic bale strapping & unloading, was set up.
